Scope: Podcast Production, Content Creation, Video/Audio Editing, Marketing, and Broadcast Strategy
Overview
"Real Talk with Dr. Deen" is a thought-provoking 12-episode podcast series created for British Muslim TV, exploring pressing topics relevant to modern Muslim communities in the UK and beyond. I was brought on to oversee the full production cycle—from concept development to broadcast delivery—ensuring the show resonated with its target audience while meeting broadcast standards for both YouTube and TV transmission.
OBJECTIVES
Create a dynamic and engaging podcast series that highlights real-world issues within the Muslim community
Produce high-quality audio and video content for broadcast and digital platforms
Develop brand identities, including animated title sequences, lower-third graphics, and on-location background animations.
Develop a clear show format to ensure consistency and audience retention
Drive conversations around topics that matter to the audience through expert guest speakers
Approach
1. Concept Development & Show Planning
The first step was defining the concept and format of the series. Working closely with Dr. Deen and the British Muslim TV team, I helped craft a show that would blend thought leadership with relatable, community-driven discussions. This included:
Defining core themes and topics per episode (e.g., faith, modern-day challenges, Muslim identity, social issues)
Establishing the tone of the show—informal yet educational, with room for diverse opinions and honest discussions
Structuring each episode with a mix of solo commentary by Dr. Deen and guest interviews, offering different perspectives
2. Production Planning & Scheduling
Coordinating guest appearances and pre-show interviews
Organising filming schedules, including location scouting and on-site logistics
Ensuring that all production timelines were met, from recording to post-production
Liaising with technical teams for audio and video setup to ensure broadcast quality
3. Content Creation & Recording
I oversaw the full creative direction, ensuring that each episode was on-brand, engaging, and professionally executed:
Coordinating with a multi-camera setup for high-quality visual content, ensuring it was suitable for both YouTube and broadcast TV
Directing the show’s flow, managing transitions, and ensuring smooth dialogues during the recording
Producing a clean audio experience by overseeing sound editing, removing background noise, and balancing levels
4. Post-Production & Editing
After recording, the post-production phase involved editing both the video and audio components for optimal quality:
Editing for YouTube’s optimal video length and creating highlight reels for social media
Adding graphics and intro/outro animations for consistency and branding
Incorporating subtitles and captions to enhance accessibility for all viewers
Ensuring episodes adhered to British Muslim TV's broadcast standards for air compatibility
5. Marketing & Distribution
To maximise the series' reach, we devised a multi-channel marketing plan:
Creating teaser content and promo clips to generate buzz across social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, TikTok)
Developing branded visuals and episode artwork for cross-platform promotion
Strategically promoting episodes via email newsletters and digital ads to build anticipation
Coordinating with the British Muslim TV marketing team to feature episodes prominently on TV and digital platforms
